Yolanda & Olivia

Yolanda and Olivia immigrated from

Pénjamo, Guanajuato, Mexico. Olivia lives in Salinas, CA and works for a packing company that packages agricultural products in Gonzales, CA. Yolanda lives in Castroville, CA and recently completed her G.E.D. program.

Gerardo

Gerardo worked harvesting melon and lettuce for many years. His work took him as far as San Joaquin Valley to Salinas, CA. Gerardo knows many people who are also from Janamuato, Michoacan and are essential agricultural workers who live in (and work in) Hollister, CA and Gilroy, CA. Gerardo is now retired.

Erika

Erika is from Oaxaca, Mexico. Erika recently obtained her G.E.D. and plans to attend E.S.L. (English as a Second Language) classes to be better prepared for college. Erika is a DACA Dreamer and works picking strawberries in the Salinas Valley. 

Perla

Perla is a CSUMB student and the first in her family to go to college. Perla's parents work in the agricultural fields, in several areas of District 18. Perla is studying agricultural engineering. 

Yujie

Yujie is from Shanghai, China. Yujie is a graduate from cosmetology school and is learning English to obtain a better job. 

Yolanda

Yolanda is from Oaxaca, Mexico and speaks Mixteco. Yolanda is a DACA Dreamer who works picking strawberries in Watsonville, Salinas and Castroville, CA. Yolanda encourages everyone who is able to vote, to vote.

Rubi

Rubi is a CSUMB student. She is the first in her family to go to college. Rubi is studying and preparing to become a K-12 teacher.
